A Simple Way to Help Keep the Lights On

Life can change in an instant. An unexpected illness, job loss, family emergency, or financial setback can leave a household struggling to keep up with monthly expenses. When that happens, even paying an electric bill can become a challenge.

That’s why Greeneville Energy Authority created Project Care, a community-focused giving program that allows customers to help local families facing temporary financial hardships.

Project Care is built on a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors.

How Project Care Works

Through Project Care, GEA customers can choose to add a voluntary donation to their monthly electric bill. You decide how much you’d like to give, whether it’s a few dollars each month or a larger amount.

Those donations are used to provide direct assistance to local GEA customers who are experiencing emergency situations and need help paying their electric bill.

Even better, GEA matches every donation made through Project Care, up to $2,000, effectively doubling the impact of community contributions.

Double the Impact of Your Generosity

One of the most powerful aspects of Project Care is GEA’s commitment to matching customer donations.

When customers give, GEA gives too.

That means every dollar donated stretches further and helps more families in Greene County receive the support they need during difficult times.

Local Support for Local Families

Project Care funds stay right here in our community.

Assistance is provided to eligible local GEA customers who are experiencing financial difficulties that affect their ability to maintain electric service. Applications for assistance are coordinated through Greeneville-Greene County Community Ministries (GGCCM), helping ensure funds are distributed to those with the greatest need.

Whether a family is facing a medical crisis, temporary unemployment, or another unexpected hardship, Project Care provides a helping hand when it’s needed most.

Already Participating in Round Up?

Many customers already support local assistance efforts through GEA’s Round Up Program, which rounds bills up to the nearest dollar each month.

Project Care offers an opportunity to do even more.

Customers can participate in both programs and increase their support through a recurring monthly contribution of their choice.

If you’re currently enrolled in Round Up and want to add an additional monthly donation:

  1. Unenroll from your current Round Up selection.
  2. Update your donation amount.
  3. Re-enroll in the program.

The updated contribution will begin with your next billing cycle.

Flexible and Easy

Project Care is designed to make giving simple.

  • Choose your own monthly donation amount.
  • Change your contribution at any time.
  • Increase or decrease your donation whenever needed.
  • No limit on the number of changes you can make.
  • Changes take effect with a future billing cycle.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, plays a role in helping local families stay connected.

A Stronger Community Starts With Us

The strength of a community isn’t measured by what individuals accomplish alone. It’s measured by how neighbors support one another during life’s challenges.

Project Care gives GEA customers the opportunity to make a real difference with a simple monthly contribution. When combined with donations from others and GEA’s matching funds, those gifts become a powerful resource for helping local families keep the lights on and move forward.
