Our budget year begins each June, and your account will reconcile the following June. Budget Billing is based on the average of your past 12 months of usage to determine your set monthly budget amount. We will continue tracking your actual monthly usage, but instead of paying the actual amount each month, you pay the set budget amount.
Typically, you pay a little more than your actual usage during the milder spring and fall months to help offset higher winter bills. Each June, your account is “trued up.” If you owe a balance, you will pay the difference to GEA. If you have paid more than your actual usage over the past 12 billing cycles, the credit is applied to your account and used toward the new budget amount for the next budget year.
If you are interested in enrolling in Budget Billing, you will need to call our office in June after you receive your June billing. You can enroll by calling 423‑636‑6200, and a CSR will evaluate your account and set your budget amount.
By enrolling in Budget Billing, you, the customer, acknowledge that you fully understand and accept the terms of Service. You understand that this agreement may be cancelled at any time by either GEA or yourself, provided proper identification is presented. You agree to pay the designated budget amount on or before the due date each billing period. If you fail to meet this requirement, you understand that your account will no longer qualify for Budget Billing and the full outstanding balance will become immediately due.
